I have an M.A. in Counselling Psychology (2007) from UBC and am a Certified Gottman Bringing Baby Home Educator. In my over 12 years of experience in the mental health field I have worked with a variety of clientele facing issues such as:
- Relationship conflict
- Parenting challenges
- Life transitions (divorce, blended families, new parenthood, loss/change)
- Post-Traumatic Stress
- LGBT2S issues
- Sexual abuse
- Victims of crime
In addition to offering offering private counselling, I also offer the Bringing Baby Home program in the Fraser Valley. This program helps couples thrive through the transition to parenthood, and form a strong early connection with their baby.
In my counselling work, I strive to create a genuine, relaxed and safe space for people to explore troubling places and practice new ways of thinking, behaving, and relating that can improve their lives. I am solution focused, looking for ways to harness strengths and help clients move forward quickly. I base my work in my understanding of Attachment Theory, Family Systems, neuroscience, cognitive-behavioral and narrative therapy. My relationship counselling is informed by the research of Dr.’s John and Julie Gottman, and by an emotion-focused approach.
I am approved under the Crime Victim Assistance Program of BC. If you have been a victim of crime you may be eligible for counselling funding to help you recover.
I encourage you to give me a call, or send an e-mail if you have any questions or would like to set up a free half-hour consultation. I am a member and adhere to the Code of Ethical Conduct of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I will hold all of our conversations in strict confidence.
