Give your baby one of the greatest gifts; a strong relationship between the two of you.
Starting a family is one of the most profound and life-altering choices couple can make. You may have prepared yourself for the birth through prenatal classes, but are you prepared for what comes afterwards? Your bundle of joy can also bring on the challenges of sleep deprivation, extra work, financial strain, and unexpected shifts in priorities. Even the strongest couples can be tested by the transition to parenthood; in fact 67% of couples report a decline in marital satisfaction and increased conflict during their children’s early years. And yet, at are such a critical time in baby’s development, parents truly want to be at their best.
That’s why I’m so delighted to be able to bring the research based, Bringing Baby Home workshop to the Fraser Valley. Finally, there is a workshop that prepares expectant and new parents to make a smooth, positive transition to becoming a family. In a relaxed and supportive 12-hour course, expectant and new parents (of children up to 3 years old) learn to strengthen their relationships, effectively manage conflict, and foster baby’s development during this challenging time. Bringing Baby Home offers couples the practical, concrete skills and knowledge that will help them avoid the pitfalls of new parenthood.
Based on the renowned research of Dr.’s John and Julie Gottman, the BBH program has been shown to improve couples, and parent-child relationship quality after adding a new baby, reduce the risk of maternal post-partum depression, and bring a host of other benefits. You can learn more about the program and the research on the Gottman Institute’s website.
This 12-hour investment will continue to payoff for years to come, not only in the valuable knowledge gained, but in the community of ongoing support you can find in your Bringing Baby Home classmates. For more information about how to take the class, see my Bringing Baby Home site, here.
